Matthew E. White, Wilsen

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Matthew E White took the world by storm in 2012 releasing Big Inner, a record that earned five stars in The Guardian and a spot on its year-end list, plus those of Pitchfork, eMusic and Consequence of Sound. After touring the world, from The Hollywood Bowl, to Queen Elizabeth Hall, to the Sydney Opera House, White settled in to make what would become Fresh Blood, the brilliant bloom to Big Inner's striking bud. Fresh Blood is a bracing, beguiling record and a bold advance for White. Simultaneously recognizing the trouble and delight that life can bring, these 10 numbers are guides for times of joy, agony and the middle distance where we most often linger.

On March 10, Richmond, Virginia-based singer, songwriter, bandleader, and musical polymath, Matthew E. White will release Fresh Blood, his first full-length album for Domino and the follow-up to the “magical” (Pitchfork) debut Big Inner. Produced by White and Spacebomb partner Trey Pollard, and mixed by Pat Dillett (David Byrne, Nile Rodgers), Fresh Blood marks the next chapter of White’s Richmond, VA-based Spacebomb -- an analog studio, record label and production house with in-house strings, horns and a choir at his behest. Fresh Blood is a bracing, beguiling record and a bold advance for White - a record that feels like the brilliant bloom to Big Inner’s striking bud.
