Caldwell Snyder is excited to announce an exhibition of Matt Rogers recent works in our San Francisco Gallery. Please join us to meet the artist, and enjoy an evening full of art, wine and great conversations on Thursday, November 21st from 5-7 P.M.
California-based artist Matt Rogers depicts timeless subjects in a wholly original and contemporary style marked by bold colors, energetic gestures, and unexpected compositions. He captures everyday visual vocabulary and creates unique compositions. His paintings encapsulate California from the expansive vineyards of Napa, to the texture of the smallest flower - a sensory journey of color, pattern, and emotion.
"Flowers are used to communicate, to send secret messages, tell someone you love them, to apologize, or to celebrate. The viewer can decide the occasion as they get engrossed in the deep textured paintings, as they step into nature."
Rogers counts California landscape painters Elmer Bischoff, Richard Diebenkom, and David Park as influences, and above all, renowned painter Wayne Theibaud, whom he considers a hero and mentor. Born in Oakland, Rogers studied at the San Francisco Art Institute. He lives and works in St. Helena, and has exhibitied his paintings in museums, solo and group exhibitions in California and beyond.
