Following the release of pianist/composer Mathis Picard's latest album, "Heat Of The Moment," on La Reserve Records, the Mathis Picard Trio, featuring longtime collaborators and Black Cat regulars Russell Hall on bass and Kyle Poole on drums, is currently on a national release tour.
"Heat Of The Moment" is a project rooted in Picard's research on the sonic connections between healing and presence, inviting the trio and listener to a unique musical journey. A joyous portrait of the musical community that the pianist has built over a decade in The United States, this celebratory show brings Picard's newest compositions to the forefront while spotlighting some of his closest collaborators of the past decade.
Vuyo Sotashe, a New York-based vocalist and composer from South Africa, is a celebrated artist who has performed with jazz legends like Dee Dee Bridgewater, Wynton Marsalis, and more. A recipient of the Van Lier Fellowship, he has graced prestigious festivals and stages worldwide, showcasing his indelible creative voice. Currently a fronting vocalist in Mwenso and the Shakes, Sotashe continues to captivate audiences globally.
