"Virtuosic keepers of a cultural flame...Bringing folklore & cultural memory into a performance that unfolded as breezy entertainment." - The New York Times

Three of the most popular and iconic musicians from Maui's renowned "Slack Key Show" - 4-time Grammy winner George Kahumoku Jr., National Heritage Fellow Led Kaapana, and award-winning virtuoso Jeff Peterson -- share Hawai'i's unique "slack key" guitar styles and songs that trace their roots from 19th-Century paniolos (Hawaiian cowboys) to modern day.

Master slack-key guitarist George Kahumoku Jr., Hawaii's renaissance man, is a multiple Grammy and Na Hoku Hanohano award winner. The vocalist, storyteller, songwriter, author, teacher, sculptor, farmer, and chef is also the producer and star of the long-running weekly Slack Key Show, which features the best Hawaiian slack-key guitarists and other leading musicians. https://www.kahumoku.com

Led Kaapana has been thrilling audiences for more than 40 years with his playful stage personality and technical expertise. His mastery of stringed instruments, particularly the slack-key guitar, and his extraordinary baritone and leo ki'eki'e (falsetto) voices have made him a musical legend. He has earned four Grammy nominations and was featured on two Grammy-winning slack-key compilations. https://www.ledkaapana.com

Born and raised in upcountry Maui, Jeff Peterson mastered the paniolo (cowboy) guitar tradition and also became accomplished in multiple guitar styles, including classical and jazz, which has allowed him to develop a unique and transcendent voice on the guitar while remaining deeply rooted in the traditions of his Hawaiian heritage. His skill in multiple slack-key tunings is evident, and he explains the character of each tuning as he changes them during the show.
