Marx Now: Marx-a-thon

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Did you ever wonder why Karl Marx’s theories remain relevant, today? This year Marx turned 200. The Goethe-Institut uses this occasion to commemorate the impact of his theories upon the German and U.S. society, today. Join us at 3:30pm for the screening of Florian Opitz’s System Error (2018) or join in at 5pm to have a slice of birthday cake while listening to poetry, contemporary rap, lectures and to play with robots. The Marx-a-thon will bring together leading local scholars, activists, and artists such as Maddy Clifford, Dietmar Dath, Alejandro Murguia, Mighty Mike McGee and Kal Spelletich who will each share - in their own unique ways - why Marx endures and what Marx can tell us about our current cultural and social production. Alexander Kluge’s News from Ideological Antiquity (2008) will be screening throughout the entirety of the event. Will you have enough stamina to endure the Marx-a-thon? Come and find out.
In cooperation with Litquake: https://www.litquake.org/2018-litquake-festival.html
Free admission. Limited seating.
