The Goethe-Institut in San Francisco with head offices in Munich and Bonn/Germany, reaches out to audiences in eleven states, from Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Hawaii, to Nevada, and Northern California.
We organize a variety of programs in the arts and humanities, highlighting current aspects of German and European cultural, political, and intellectual life. In close collaboration with our local partners, we co-host film series, conferences, exhibitions, concerts, dance, and theatre performances, cutting edge projects, interactive media and computer related events.
Our activities emphasize projects which reflect artistic exchange and promote Germany in all areas of cultural life, creating dialogue, and building upon existing partnerships, while at the same time seeking inspiration from our community. Our language division offers intensive German courses in San Francisco and Germany.
