Mark Karan, Terry Haggerty & Terry Hiatt w/ Featprints – A Tribute to Little Feat

SEE EVENT DETAILS
One night, three legendary guitarists. Mark Karan (RatDog), Terry Haggerty (Sons of Champlin) and Terry Hiatt (Sista Monica), three of the most inventive and influential git-slingers of the day, join forces for an evening of inspired guitar pyrotechnics. Each of the guys plays a set of his own and they congregate for a 18 string jam that will leave your jaw on the floor.

Mark Karan is best known for performing with the extended Grateful Dead family. For the last twelve years, he has anchored the lead guitar slot in Bob Weir & RatDog, playing hundreds of shows to thousands of fans year-round. Before crossing over into the land of the Dead, Mark worked his guitar and vocal voodoo for the likes of Dave Mason, Delaney Bramlett, the Rembrandts, Paul Carrack, Huey Lewis, Jesse Colin Young and Sophie B. Hawkins.

Guitarist Terry Haggerty is buried treasure. As guitarist with the Sons of Champlin, Haggerty was always accorded the full respect of his peers on the ’60s San Francisco rock scene like Jerry Garcia, Jorma Kaukonen, Carlos Santana. He has been known – throughout the world – among guitar cognoscenti via the handful of recordings he made over the two decades of the Sons’ existence. Some of his demo tapes have attracted intense interest inside the industry over the years. But even now he remains something of an unknown, a titan hiding in the hills, a legend waiting to be discovered.

Terry Hiatt is renowned by his peers as one of the most inventive and accomplished Bay Area guitarists. Fluent in a multitude of styles and genres, he has forged a name for himself with his unique musical outlook. Terry has made his career working and recording with such artists as Terrie Odabi, the late Sista Monica Parker, E.C. Scott, Paula Harris, Chris Cain, Terry Haggerty, Jerry Miller, Kid Anderson, Lara Price, and Lydia Pense. His playing is a distinctive blend of blues, rock, country, and pop, which he likes to call “American Gumbo.”

Opening the show, and backing the boys, will be Featprints – an all-star tribute to the legendary Little Feat.
Throughout the 70’s and into the 80’s, 90’s and into the new millennium, Little Feat pushed the envelope of accepted styles blending rocks, blues, cajun, country and fusion into a tasty gumbo. Their hits like “Dixie Chicken”, “Willin”, “Oh Atlanta” and “Let It Roll” just begin to scratch the surface on what they could do live. The legions of grassroots loyal fans that still follow them to this day are a testimony to their legacy.
FeatPrints take on the prodigious task of playing the songlist of this iconic band with seven of the Bay Area’s most in-demand talents featuring Loralee Christensen – vocals (Narada Michael Walden), Beth Reynolds – vocals (Shana Morrison), Derrick “D’Mar” Martin – drums (Little Richard), Paul Olguin – bass/vocals (Mazzy Star), Nate Ginsberg – keys (Todd Rundgren), Vince Caminiti guitar (Souled Out) and Terry Hiatt – slide guitar/vocals.
