From instances of playing alongside Lady Antebellum to busking on the Santa Monica pier, songwriters Marissa Lauren, Michael Martinez and Jess Jones take the stage together at Hotel Utah Tuesday, April 23. Aside from the possibility of a collaborative cover, the three separate artists will perform their own songs. From Lauren’s indie pop, folk and soul influences, to Jones capture of her small town vibe through acoustic guitar and simple melodies, expect a disparate, but complimentary, set of songs from these three artists.
They'll be joined by Arkansas' Adam Faucett and William Blackart. Both Arkansans are on tour in support of new records, with Facuett's "It Took the Shape of a Bird" (Last Chance Records) being named to Pop Matters "Top 20 Americana Albums of 2018," while American Songwriter labeled it a collection of "darkly poetic meanderings delivered with a voice at once tender and sulfurous."
Blackart opens the night at eight with a set of his gravelly, lo-fi country/folk tunes.
