Malcolm Goldstein comes to UC Santa Cruz to present a program of solo improvisations and exploratory compositions. This violinist and composer is the co-founder of the seminal Tone Roads ensemble, and has been active in the presentation of new music and dance since the early 1960's. His improvisations have received international acclaim for extending the range of the tonal and sound-texture possibilities of the violin and revealing new dimensions of expressivity. He has written extensively on improvisation and is the author of the book Sounding the Full Circle: Concerning Music Improvisation and Other Related Matters. Free admission.
