MADS TOLLING is a two-time Grammy Award-Winning Violinist, originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, now living in San Francisco. He is a former nine-year member of both bassist Stanley Clarke's band and the celebrated Turtle Island Quartet. He was the winner of DownBeat's 2016 Critics Poll Rising Star Violin Award and of the 2023 SF Classical Voice Best Jazz Instrumentalist. Mads has performed with Chick Corea, Ramsey Lewis, Kenny Barron, Paquito D'Rivera, Leo Kottke and Sergio & Odair Assad. He is a current member of Bob Weir & Wolf Bros and tours internationally with his own band.
This evening Mads is joined by long-time collaborator Dave Mac Nab. Dave is one of the highest in-demand guitarists in the Bay Area, who several times have played at Davies Symphony Hall and with the likes of Josh Groban and Bryan McKnight. Dave is a top-notch jazz performer, and Mads and Dave started working together following the release of Mads' album, Celebrating Jean-Luc Ponty - now over 10 years ago.
Completing the quartet on this evening will be the killer rhythm section of bassist Dan Robbins and drummer Benjamin Ring.
