Legendary U.K. producer MAD PROFESSOR will bring The Roots of Dubstep Tour to North America, making his only Northern California appearance at Dub Mission.
Legendary U.K. producer MAD PROFESSOR will bring The Roots of Dubstep Tour to 14 cities across North America, making his only Northern California appearance at Dub Mission.

The UK-based producer Neil Fraser was given his nickname by friends at school who were amazed by the experiments he carried out as a youth. He started Ariwa in 1979 in a home studio, before moving to the studio’s current location in the mid-80s. Thanks to his creative drive, perceptive production skills and technical expertise behind the mixing desk, plenty of hits soon followed. In the best reggae tradition, Ariwa drew from diverse influences to create a unique sound, making use of unbridled artistic ambition to fill any gaps that may have appeared due to a lack of finance. Since those humble beginnings, Mad Professor’s music has seen him circumnavigate the globe countless times and his skills as a dub remixer have drawn requests for collaboration from numerous musicians working in different genres all over the world, most famously giving Massive Attack’s second album Protection the dub remix, resulting in the hugely popular album, No Protection.

A Ruff Guide To Ariwa Sounds, Mad Professor’s latest release, is a compilation of classic dub tracks from his label’s massive catalog, featuring Lee Scratch Perry, U-Roy & Yabby U, Cedric Congo, Queen Omega, Big Youth, Luciano, Pato Banton, Mad Professor apprentice Joe Ariwa and MC General Levy.
