One fateful summer night in the alleyway beside City Lights Bookstore in North Beach, a few buskers were approached by a friendly neighborhood wino who said, “Y’all make MAD NOISE.” The crew embraced their new title immediately. Over the past four years of performing in churches, on piers, rooftops, and boats, in back alleys, street corners, and graveyards (as well as at Yoshi's and Great American Music Hal)l, this tireless group of musicians has been described as … a lot of things. Most recently as "the ubiquitous, scandalously funky acoustic/jazz/punk ensemble that haunts the street corners and sidewalks from Berkeley to the Mission" (SF Weekly).
We can dig it.
Come see what all that means at this special acoustic performance by MAD NOISE!
"We've long been fans of this hyperliterate crew of humble musicians, of course, but the strongest argument for helping MAD NOISE just might be the smoky blues-funk of "Danger," the first song on the new album. They can perform their alchemy in the studio, too."
