M-Tet
The M-Tet returns to San Francisco's legendary Boom Boom Room on the heels of their set in support of Lee Fields & The Expressions at Oakland's New Parish. This Hammond-heavy quartet expands by one on this special event by bringing in Erik Mekkelson on tenor saxophone. The M-Tet Plus One is sure to bring the heat!
Described as "The Meters meets The J.B.'s" and rooted in the sound of '60s organ-based R&B made famous by Booker T. & The M.G.’s and Billy Preston, The M-Tet pushes hard in concert with their take on classic soul standards and original "groovers that show the band is really in their own lane (NostalgiaKing.com)". With vinyl released by Lugnut Brand Records and Detroit’s Funk Night Records, The M-Tet offers up some "Old-school heat in a new-school package (Larry Grogan, Funky 16 Corners)."
