"Goth-postpunk-diva" (KQED) M. Lamar unveils his latest work-in-progress, "Lordship and Bondage: The Birth of the Negro Superman," a commission from daredevil performance duo The Living Earth Show.
Remembered for his "Negrogothic" installation at San Francisco Art Institute (2015), composer and provocateur M. Lamar blends heavy metal, doom, opera, camp and political allegory in "Lordship and Bonage." His target: confronting the legacy of slavery in America.
The Saturday, January 28, performance is a work-in-progress performance of "Discipline #1," from "Lordship." It is presented by Mainline Music, produced by Opera Cabal, and generously hosted by the Starline Social Club (645 W. Grand Ave).
