Lynn Wood
2/day Workshop: May 21-22, 2022, 10-4pm
Textures and Templates
Description:
Come hand build with the pottery texture queen.
Participants will warm up by making a few small plates of
different styles and then incorporating Lynn's texture mats
into their work. As the workshop progresses participants
will move to other forms- cups, vases, pitchers and boxes. As the templates and forms get more complex Lynn will discuss altering templates and how to design original templates.
Come prepared to explore, play, make new things and have a lot of fun! Potters of all skill levels are welcome.
Texture and Function are Lynn's primary concerns as she designs and crafts clay tableware and vases at her studio in Santa Rosa, CA. Lynn's work is notable for the variety of applied surfaces she creates taking inspiration from natural forms, textiles and architecture. This focus over more than 25 years as a potter led her to develop and market a line of texture stamps for potters and other artists. Lynn's diverse patterns and glazes can be mixed and matched to create inviting table settings.
She has been know as the pottery texture queen for 12 years now. She started her texture mat business in 2008. This opened up a path that has been a great adventure for her.Lynn has always been interested in surface design in her work. Additionally having always been a person who drew and doodled this texture mat business was a natural development. Initially she had 6 patterns of mats. Since that time she has designed over 40 styles. This part of her business has led to her attending many clay conferences and teaching workshops around the country. What a great adventure, who knows where it will lead next.
