At a time when punk rockers and metal-heads did not co-mingle, Suicidal Tendencies took a major step in linking these scenes with their second and third albums, Join the Army (1987) and How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today (1988), which were landmark cross-over thrash albums. Their self-titled debut (1983) is fondly remembered too, but it is a straight-up skate-punk album. After this trio of albums, Suicidal more or less became a standard thrash band. Former Suicidal bassist Louiche Mayorga and drummer R.J. Herrera are touring with their new group, Luicidal, playing songs from these first three albums for all the old-school Suicidal fans. They play some originals too, which sound very much in the vein of old Suicidal Tendencies. (Aaron Carnes)
