Aztec Parrot

DJ Aztec Parrot DJ’ed his first party in 1977 as a 7th grade student working the tables at a 8th grade dance. He has been collecting vinyl records since 1973 and has taken his musical presentation, The Eclectic and Sublime to many galleries, community celebrations, private parties, and fundraisers. He truly believes in the diversity of music and celebration with a vinyl collection of close to 10,000 records, 6 thousand cd’s, and numerous gigabytes of music at his disposal.
As a radio host and producer, he started Radio 2050 in November of 2003 at Pacifica’s KPFA in Berkeley, CA. His show delves into the Chican@/Latin@ Art Scene by profiling artists who are currently working, presenting or living in the Bay Area. With close to 300 interviews over the last 8 years, he has become one of the most listened to voices about contemporary Latino art in the west coast, and one of the most knowledgeable ethnomusicologist of contemporary traditional and dance music.
