Adam Theis & NOT a Brass Band are the latest offshoot of the genre-bending 15 Year-running Jazz Mafia collective. Formed by five musicians who have had extensive experience playing in New Orleans-Style Brass groups, the group takes instrumentation into new and unexplored territories.
Many of the group's new compositions use fresh rhythmic feels from Rock or EDM and combine melodies, harmony, and phrasing from Chamber, Jazz, and World musics. Of course, there is still a hint of New Orleans lingering beneath the surface as evidence of wild horn romps from time to time.
