LIVE JAZZ - Sax Powerhouse IRWIN HALL featuring NYC jazz chanteuse MELANIE CHARLES

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Black Cat (see times)
Irwin Hall is an award-winning, internationally renowned Brooklyn-based musician. He is a master of the flute, clarinet, and especially his first love, the saxophone. He attended Princeton University on a full ride to study East Asian foreign relations. He learned Japanese and after graduating, moved to Tokyo to work as a research assistant to the Editor-In-Chief at a major Japanese newspaper. However, he was unable to resist his calling and soon returned to the siren that is jazz. Hall has toured and performed with Dee Dee Bridgewater, Melody Gardot, John Legend, Charnett Moffett, and countless more. He has played in cities around the world including London, Tokyo, Prague, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Paris, Pori, Shanghai, and Melbourne and continues to perform and lead his own band.
Featuring an all-star jazz collective:  Mike King (keys/drums); Julius Rodriguez (keys/drums); Eric Wheeler (bass)
Melanie Charles is electric on stage!  Her creative fluidity embraces jazz, R&B, soul, experimental and her own Haitian roots.  Her soulfulness stems from her roots in the church; her power from her training as an opera singer; and her sultriness is just Melanie.  She has performed and recorded with the Gorillaz; appeared on Colbert’s Late Show; and has graced the stages of the Blue Note, Lincoln Center, Nublu, Ronnie Scott’s and other global venues.
