What does it sound like to walk up to the control center in your brain? Or when evil twins steal your mind? When 40 schizophrenics hip hop a train to madness? Uh, pretty weird! If one can't tell from those paraphrased song titles, Linear Downfall's music shoots for the crazier end of the sonic spectrum, falling somewhere between Of Montreal and Dirty Projectors. There's a method to the madness though, with some definite pop sensibility-warped as it might be-and beauty underlying the experimental electronics and bursts of noise rock. I don't outright endorse a band often, but this one is damn good. They'll be playing with The Phorms, Shay's Rebellion and Tapestrees. (Stephen Layton)
