Fronted by the magnetic, soulful vocalist Lilan Kane (pronounced LEE - lawn), Hella Fitzgerald is a rollicking six-piece band bringing an infectious energy to vintage jazz, swing, jump blues, and classic soul styles. Tonight they present a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, the legendary “First Lady of Song” who inspired their name.
The Oakland-based Kane is a graduate of Boston’s Berklee School of Music whose sound flows through the heartfelt original compositions, telling stories of love, loss, and self-discovery while they seamlessly blend R&B, funk, pop, and jazz. She has worked with the Jazz Mafia’s Cosa Nostra Strings and has recently released her debut album Love, Myself to a sold out crowd at Yoshi's Jazz Club.
In addition to performing, Kane is a dedicated educator, having co-founded the Own the Mic summer singing camp at Marin’s San Domenico School.
