Ecological illiteracy is rampant in our mainstream society today – humans have become disconnected and ignorant of the incredible ecological processes that allow our planet to thrive. As we face tremendous challenges that threaten our planets livelihood, it has become ever more critical for humans to get ECOLIT – ecologically literate about our inextricable relationships to the air, water, soil, and fire of our uniquely beautiful Planet Earth.
Expanding and deepening our ecological relationships will be a crucial step towards the solutions needed to thrive in the face of 21st century challenges.
Ecological educator, natural builder, water harvester, & appropriate techie Brennan Blazer Bird will be leading this journey of elemental ecological literacy. Bird comes from a family of teachers and has a deep love for the natural history, geology, ecology, and wildness of our home planet. He has been an ecological educator for 15 years – half of his life - including a full-time Garden & Sustainability Teacher at Alta Vista School SF, and regularly presents at Bioneers, the NorCal Permaculture Convergence, and a variety of other festivals and events. Bird is currently developing a venture called SolutionCraft that focuses on the design, build, and education of ecological infrastructure.
