Let My People Go: a Passover Celebration

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Enjoy a festive Passover lunch with traditional foods and entertainment by accordionist Stanislav "Stas" Venglevski and his "flying fingers". The music program will include classical, original and Russian folk selections.

Stas is a native of the Republic of Moldova, part of the former Soviet Union. His artistry, dazzling technical command and sensitivity have brought him acclaim as a virtuoso of the Bayan, a type of accordion. A two-time first prize winner of the Bayan competition in the Republic of Moldova, Stas received his Master's Degree in Music from the Russian Academy of Music in Moscow and immigrated to the US in 1992.

Stas is an accordionist, musician, arranger, entertainer and teacher. His repertoire includes original compositions, a broad range of classical, contemporary and ethnic music. He has toured extensively as a soloist and with symphony orchestras and performed the world premiere of Concerto No. 2 by Anthony Galla-Rini as well as the premiere of Bayan and Beyond, composed for Stas by Dan Lawitts.

Stas is a regular participant in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra's Arts in Community Education Program (ACE); has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra; has done television commercials and performed in theater productions; produced numerous recordings including a transcription of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite for Bayan as well as one of original compositions. He has published several books of original compositions.

Stas founded the Accordion XXI Century Series in 2010 so that Midwest audiences can experience the amazing range of the accordion and Bayan by bringing gifted artists from all over the world.

Daytime Adult Learning and Culture Programs are made possible in part by a generous grant from the Maimonides Fund at the Jewish Community Federation & Endowment Fund of San Francisco, The Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties.
