(San Francisco, February 6th, 2017) Midnight movie maven Peaches Christ built her infamous reputation by celebrating the most depraved and disgusting cult films ever made for audiences full of screaming, giddy perverts. It's kind of her thing. But what's a horror queen to do when the actual world around her turns into a real-life scary movie darker and more disturbing than anything in her wildest fever-dream nightmares? Well, she does three things. First, she bends. Then, she snaps. And third, she checks to make sure her tuck is still in place.
Peaches Christ Productions will present the world premiere of the all-new, all-drag theatrical parody LEGALLY BLACK on March 18 at the Castro Theatre, with performances at 3 and 8 p.m. Reigning RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE champion BOB THE DRAG QUEEN will star as Bob Woods, PEACHES CHRIST will costar as Peachette, and acclaimed New York stage actress APRIL KIDWELL -- who brought the house down at the Victoria Theatre last summer as Nomi in SHOWGIRLS! THE MUSICAL! -- will play Anna Nicole Smith (you'll see!). MAHLAE BALENCIAGA is Mahlivian Kensington, PEGGY L'EGGS is Professor Strokewell, and TIM WAGNER is Warner.
Bob the Drag Queen is excited to make her debut in a Peaches Christ production, although her favorite movie was already claimed by another RuPaul's Drag Race star. "Well, I wanted to do Sister Act because I'm a huge Whoopi Goldberg fan, but Miss Latrice Royale stole it," Bob lamented. "And then I wanted to do The Color Burple, which would be like The Color Purple but starring me. But Peaches called me and said, 'I have a crazy idea to do a movie where the lead character isn't played by a black actor. What about Legally Blonde?' She wanted to call it Legally Bob but I said, 'No, we have to call it Legally Black.' She said, 'That's a lot.' And I was like, 'Well Peaches, I'm a lot.'"
