Renowned photographer and video installation artist Carrie Mae Weems comes to UC Santa Cruz for a special lecture. The recipient of a 2013 MacArthur Foundation "genius" grant, Carrie's works have been exhibited nationally and internationally throughout the course of her career. Her lecture will focus on the complex and contradictory legacy of African American identity, class, and culture in the United States, as well as her work and ideas, drawing from three decades of artistic activity.
