“... creative invention with chops...†- Down Beat magazine
The Le Boeuf Brothers, saxophonist Remy and keyboardist Pascal, mark the Kuumbwa premier of A Dream: The Musical Imagination of Franz Kafka. Composed and narrated by Remy, the piece – based on The Dream, a short story by Franz Kafka – is performed with the Myth String Quartet augmenting the Le Boeuf Brothers quintet into a wonderful nine-piece chamber jazz ensemble. Inspired by Charles Mingus' compositional use of poetry and spoken-word, Remy eschews abstraction for the sake of abstraction in favor of a clear style that engages the average listener through the integration of a compelling storyline with compelling music. If you've ever wondered what a Franz Kafka story “sounds†like, the Le Boeuf Brothers have the answer.
