Join Women of the 415 Wednesday, March 15 Â to discuss the importance of Equal Pay, how we got here, and what actions we can take to make a world of equal pay and equality.Â
For every $1 all men make, all women in the U.S. are paid 80 cents on average, and it's even worse for Black and Hispanic women. Women are missing out on a fifth of their rightful earnings. Add this up over the course of a career and the financial implications are staggering. If a young woman graduates from high school and goes straight to work at $20,000 a year, she will make $700,000 less than the young man graduating with her over the course of her lifetime.Â
April 4th is Equal Pay Day. In an effort to be informed, be motivated, and take action, we are inviting one of the premier experts on Equal Pay, Jennifer Resich, the Legal Director of Equal Rights Advocates (ERA) to speak with the Women of the 415. ERA seeks equality and justice for women and girls in schools and workplaces across the country.  Jennifer helped pass the strongest equal pay law in the nation, the California Fair Pay Act of 2015 and is an appointed member of the California Pay Equity Task Force.Â
