Le Due Muse is a cello and piano duo team formed by the Bay Area cellist Sarah Hong and her long time duo partner, Japanese pianist Makiko Ooka. With violinist, Fumino Ando, they return to Old First Concerts to share the great Bohemian composers’ masterpieces by Antonín Dvo?ák, Josef Suk, and Bohuslav Martin?. The area occupied by the modern Czech Republic was, in earlier times, the kingdom of Bohemia. Bohemia was extinguished as a nation, but the music of Bohemia, the most characteristic feature of her national culture, remained alive through those composers. Join us for the romantic, rich harmonies and the pure, childlike folk melodies and unique rhythm that makes us want to dance.
