Celebrate Mother’s Day with a one of a kind event. Tony Award Winner and new mom to a baby girl, Laura Benanti will be joined onstage by her mother Linda Benanti for The Story Goes On, a touching and humorous musical journey through their special relationship.
Laura Benanti won the Tony Award for her portrayal of Louise in the 2008 Broadway revival of Gypsy. She began her career at age 18 starring opposite Richard Chamberlain in The Sound of Music and has since starred in ten other Broadway shows including Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, She Loves Me and, most recently, Meteor Shower and has been nominated for five Tony Awards. She continues to have a flourishing television career as well with roles on Nashville, Super girl, The Good Wife and The Detour.
Linda Benanti is also an accomplished actress and singer with Broadway, Off Broadway and regional credits. She is a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Her last professional performance was the 1981 revival of Brigadoon just a few years after giving birth to Laura. She left the stage to dedicate more time to being a mother to Laura and her sister Marielle and wife to her husband Sal Benanti but continued to use her talent as a highly sought after vocal teacher. The Story Goes On is Linda’s return to the stage.
