2013 Summer Nights Outdoor Music Festival presents
Latin Music Night with Two Bands
LOS PINGUOS and LoCURA
Saturday Aug 3, 2013, 7:00PM

(May 31, 2013 – SAN RAFAEL, Ca) A night celebrating Latino and Hispanic cultures brings two great bands. Los Pinguos returns, bringing their vivacious mixture of Latin rhythms, performed with Spanish guitars, bass and harmonizing vocals. As cosmopolitan as their homeland Buenos Aires, they share an energy that is so contagious their fan base continues to grow and crowd the dance floors.
LoCura taps into the diverse sounds that have a rich history in the Bay Area, weaving them together in an uncanny way to reveal their common roots. Flamenco, Reggae, Cumbia, Ska, Cuban Son are all blended through contagious rhythms and multiple languages. LoCura’s music speaks of the mosaic that is the SF Mission.
Both bands offer driving beats that beckon listeners to the dance floor, and so the evening will begin with a pre-event Latin dance lesson led by Norma Prieto, teaching moves to keep the night fun for everyone.

The beautiful and safe Swig Field is surrounded by Marin hills and begs for picnicking, but will offer the choice of purchasing delicious as well as affordable meals on-site from Marin’s own Casa Manana pop-up Restaurant. No alcohol is allowed to be brought in, but is available for purchase.

Canal Welcome Center along with Drawbridge will host the Kid Zone, offering up a Latin themed art project alongside the playground for youngsters. A Georgi & Willow pop-up shop will offer festival shopping and add to the full Marin community experience.

Special guests will include families and employees from Canal Welcome Center and Canal Alliance.
