Larry Murante, Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon

SEE EVENT DETAILS
An evening of energetic folk/rock. Engaging and direct in live performance, Seattle-based Larry Murante's soaring vocals bring power and grace to his beautiful woven stories. The Bay Area's own Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon blend sweet harmonies with intricate guitar arrangements, creating a place where you can relax in the comfort of the groove - knowing you'll leave smiling and little more hopeful.

About Larry Murante
It's no surprise that Seattle-based Larry Murante has a reputation as one of the finest contemporary singer songwriters to emerge from the Northwest in recent years.

His beautifully woven stories about every day folks, set to song, combine compassionate, socially conscious lyrics and a joyful, energetic folk/rock style. Jackson Brown, Lyle Lovett, Hal Ketchum and Michael McDonald are all reflected in his music. Larry is known for his soaring, mellifluous, tenor, a strong rhythmic guitar style and an engaging stage presence.

He took the grand price in the 2009 John Lennon Songwriting Conference for 'Paul's Song' - recorded on his latest CD, Point of Entry. He's also been recognized and taken top awards at the Kerrville Folk Festival, West Coast Songwriter's International Song Contest, International Acoustic Music Awards, Tucson Folk Festival, Billboard Song Contest - just to name a few.

"His songwriting is spectacular. I'm so glad I'm beyond the age of jealousy."Christine Lavin, singer-songwriter

About Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon
What happens when a self-professed 'band geek' and a versatile guitarist with a passion for Barbershop harmonies merge their artistic inspirations?

Combining their varied musical pasts, Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon jump the lines between acoustic soul and folk rock. The first thing you'll notice is the blend of their harmonies, along with rhythmic guitar that drives a compelling tension and release. Greg's guitar pushes Bev's voice pulls together exploring life, love and the pursuit of something real.

Bev has a gift for delivering the essence of a song. Her voice has been called angelic but with the ability to 'turn down the sheets.' She is, above all, a hopeful creative. A soulful communicator. A passionate songwriter.

Newlon's guitar encircles the song as he finds his way between the notes with fluidity and strength. His guitar and vocal arrangements are the result of a long and varied musical journey from his rock beginnings combined with a background in musical theatre and barbershop, to the country rock sound of Aspen in the late 1970s and more recently through blues, country and modern folk. All of these influences have shaped his unique, contemporary acoustic style.

Bev and Greg's songs have been recognized by the West Coast Songwriters, International Acoustic Music Awards, POSI Awards, and the Great American Song Contest, among other organizations.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel says Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon "take a sophisticated approach to their contemporary Folk and Americana."

Ronn Owens of KGO Radio San Francisco just says "wow, that's smooth!"
