Lana Del Rey, real name Elizabeth Grant, is an American singer/songwriter who shot to fame in 2011 with her haunting single Video Games. She was born in New York, and grew up in Lake Placid. She is the daughter of domain investor Rob Grant. She chose her stage name as she wanted something that reflected her style - old Hollywood glamour - more. However, her first EP, Kill Kill, was released under the name Lizzy Grant in 2009. She also released a full-length, Lana Del Rey a.k.a Lizzy Grant. However, it wasn't until the release of Video Games in 2011 that she got her first real taste of success. Shortly after her single hit the shelves, Lana won a string of awards, including Q's Next Big Thing award, and Pitchfork's Best New Song. Her London show sold out in half an hour. Video Games was also featured on Gossip Girl in 2011.
