Lamplighters: Taster's Choice of Operetta

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Enjoy an afternoon of music from the world of Gilbert and Sullivan, brought to life by a Lamplighters ensemble of five singers and a pianist. Lamplighters Music Theatre is in its 71st season. Their mission is to be the premier producer of the art of Gilbert and Sullivan, as well as other compositions of comparable wit, eloquence and musicality.

Ensemble:
Rose Waldman, Soprano
Deborah Rosengaus, Mezzo Soprano
Carmello Tringali, Tenor
Charles Martin, Bass/Baritone
F. Lawrence Ewing, Patter Baritone
Robby Stafford, Pianist and Narrator

You will hear selections from Il Ducato, The New Mikado, opening in August. Lamplighters' copyrighted re-imagining of The Mikado, transported to Renaissance Italy. They will present very fun scenes and talk about how it was changed from the original.

Second in the season this year will be Ruddygore, or The Curse of the Bruja. The concept for this new production will be to move the action to a town in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. They will perform some famous numbers from the show and talk about how this work will be respectfully presented as an integration of Mexican and English heritage....with the original story intact!

In addition to these Gilbert and Sullivan scenes, there will be numbers from their recent commission, By Georges!, as well as the spring 2024 production, The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

Funded in part by the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund. We are grateful for the generous support of all of our donors.
