La Mar Celebrates 5th Anniversary With Street Food Festival

La Mar Cebichería Peruana in San Francisco will celebrate their fifth anniversary on Thursday, September 26 by hosting a Peruvian Street Food Festival from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. The admission price will range from $125.00 to $150.00 and highlights will include food stations, passed appetizers, an open bar showcasing cocktails made with pisco, live Peruvian music and dance performances, a Meals On Wheels and VIDA benefit component, and the opportunity for the first 50 guests to watch a screening (4:00 p.m. in the Four Embarcadero Center conference center) of the documentary film Peru Sabe starring celebrity chefs Ferran Adrià and Gaston Acurio. Chef Acurio, the founder of the La Mar family of restaurants, will be in San Francisco during the anniversary celebration. Over the last five years, La Mar has become San Francisco's premier source for authentic Peruvian cuisine which is prepared by Chef Diego Oka. Chef Oka, now 30 years old, is a native of Peru and has Japanese ancestry. Intrigued by the culinary arts at an early age, his career has spanned two continents, plus he has represented Peru at a gastronomical summit in Madrid, helped win first place at the Girotonno competition in Cerdeña, Italy, and participated in food festivals in Japan and the United States. Oka was part of the team that opened the first La Mar Cebichería in Lima, Peru, and has subsequently done the same in Mexico City and Bogotá.
La Mar Cebichería Peruana is located on Pier 1½, on the Embarcadero across from Washington Street, in San Francisco, California.
