Foothill College presentsÂ Korda Moda, the first exhibition dedicated to Korda's fashion photography,Â Oct. 2â€“Dec. 6Â in the Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) Gallery at the Foothill campus in Los Altos Hills. Admission is free; parking is $3.Â
Cuban photographer Alberto DÃaz GutiÃ©rrez, simply known asÂ Korda, is most famous for his image of Ernesto â€œCheâ€ Guevara. This image, entitledÂ Heroic GuerrillaÂ isÂ the most reproduced image in the world. Prior to the revolution and shootingÂ Heroic Guerrilla, Korda was a successful fashion photographer, defining the fashion photography aesthetic in Cuba.Â
Diana DÃ®az LÃ³pez, Kordaâ€™s daughter and head of the Korda Estate, andÂ Foothill College Photography Instructor Ron Herman, curator of the exhibition, will discuss the life and photographs of Alberto Korda with a special screening of the short filmÂ Simply Korda. The free lecture is Oct. 2 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Room 1501.Â Following the film there will be a guided walk to the opening reception of the exhibitÂ Korda ModaÂ at the Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) Gallery.Â The exhibit opening reception is Oct 2 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the KCI Gallery.
The KCI Gallery is open Mondaysâ€“Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gallery is closed Sundays and Nov. 11 and Nov. 28 for holiday observances.
Parking Lot 4Â providesÂ best access to the KCI Gallery. Visitors must purchase a parking permit for $3 from dispensers in any student parking lot. Dispensers accept one-dollar bills and quarters; bring exact change. Foothill College is located off I-280 on El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills.
