Foothill College presents Korda Moda, the first exhibition dedicated to Korda's fashion photography, Oct. 2–Dec. 6 in the Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) Gallery at the Foothill campus in Los Altos Hills. Admission is free; parking is $3.Â
Cuban photographer Alberto DÃaz Gutiérrez, simply known as Korda, is most famous for his image of Ernesto “Che†Guevara. This image, entitled Heroic Guerrilla is the most reproduced image in the world. Prior to the revolution and shooting Heroic Guerrilla, Korda was a successful fashion photographer, defining the fashion photography aesthetic in Cuba.Â
Diana Dîaz López, Korda’s daughter and head of the Korda Estate, and Foothill College Photography Instructor Ron Herman, curator of the exhibition, will discuss the life and photographs of Alberto Korda with a special screening of the short film Simply Korda. The free lecture is Oct. 2 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Room 1501. Following the film there will be a guided walk to the opening reception of the exhibit Korda Moda at the Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) Gallery. The exhibit opening reception is Oct 2 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the KCI Gallery.
The KCI Gallery is open Mondays–Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gallery is closed Sundays and Nov. 11 and Nov. 28 for holiday observances.
Parking Lot 4 provides best access to the KCI Gallery. Visitors must purchase a parking permit for $3 from dispensers in any student parking lot. Dispensers accept one-dollar bills and quarters; bring exact change. Foothill College is located off I-280 on El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills.
