Kiril Hristov: Selected Drawings 2012-2015

Pacific Felt Factory Arts Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of selected works by artist Kiril Hristov, opening November 18, 2016 (5-8 pm). On view will be several mixed media drawings by Hristov, exploring the progressive transformation of the shape in still life objects. The exhibition, curated & produced by Constantine Zlatev & Hana Ali, will be on view through November 20, 2016.

“I study the visible in order to express and convey the invisible. I draw my surroundings in an effort to rebuild the structure, surpassing the visible skin of the object. Drawing is my own unique attempt at creating a new reality that exceeds the ‘mundane’.”

Hristov graduated from the National Art Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1978 and became a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists in 1982. His works can be seen at the National Art Gallery in Bulgaria and in many museums and private collections abroad. He has participated in numerous international art exhibitions since 1978, including the shows at the National Gallery of Foreign Art, Sofia, Bulgaria in 2009 and Wittgenstein Museum, Vienna, Austria in 2008. He taught at the National Academy of Fine Arts, Bulgaria until 1991 when he moved to New York City. Since 2008, he has been living in San Francisco, California, where he is a professor at the Academy of Art University. Kiril Hristov is an active member of the Bulgarian and American artists’ communities and has a PhD in Art History from the National Art Academy in Bulgaria.
