Last October, I had the beautiful opportunity to create and live in the Mission, where I showcased my portraits and sculptures during Open Studios at 1890 Bryant Studios. The experience was magical, and the city showed me a love that would warm any creative's heart. My portraits, heavily influenced by the colors and experiences of the city, seemed to resonate with viewers. I wanted to paint about how the city made me feel, and in many ways, showcase a visual love letter.
Aside from a welcoming reception from San Franciscans, a special relationship formed with two other artists, Donald Hershman and Joseph Abbati. Through our similarities and differences, we formed a unique bond bringing us to the reason for this email: KINDRED, the exhibition.
The exhibition expresses the lovely friendship, respect, and supportiveness we have for each other and our community. This exhibition, under the guidance of gallerist Kalie Capadona, encapsulates our artistic visions of who we are, our experiences, and the connections we have in the LGBTQ+ community.
