Katya Smirnoff-Skyy’s A Bittersweet 90’s Symphony

SEE EVENT DETAILS
San Francisco’s favorite Russian redhead, Katya Smirnoff-Skyy, returns to Feinstein’s at the Nikko on Thursday, October 6 at 8 p.m. for one performance of her newest show, Katya, A Bittersweet 90’s Symphony. In this cabaret event, join Eastern Europe’s most sought-after mezzo-soprano (understudy) and self-proclaimed Godmother of Grunge as she takes you on a musical journey through the 1990s. Worn out by decades of fame, and chased by the IRS, the Countess Katya Smirnoff-Skyy fled NYC in 1991 in search of a quiet, semi-charmed kind of life. Taking up residence on the sleepy banks Lake Washington, Katya wittingly finds herself at the center of a musical revolution. Neighbor to Kurt Cobain, diction coach to Celine Dion, and muse of Lilith Fair, Katya worked selflessly behind-the-scenes to shape a sound that defined a generation. “Ironically” her story has never been told, until now. Drawing upon the music of Nirvana, Semisonic, the Spice Girls and more, this show will take you back to a time when “groove was in the heart," streets were paved in plaid flannel, and no one dared to destroy your sweater. Under the musical direction of Joe Wicht this show is not to be missed. Tickets for Katya Smirnoff-Skyy range in price from $30 – $50 and are available now by calling 866.663.1063 or visiting https://www.feinsteinsatthenikko.com.
