Kala-fornia: State of the Art 3 – Exhibition Opening & Auction Preview Party

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Kala Art Institute (see times)
Kala Art Institute invites you to experience Kala-fornia: State of the Art 3, a two-week exhibition and auction of works by prominent California artists. The exhibition culminates on the night of Saturday, April 27 with a lively Gala Auction, featuring fine wine and exquisite foods. Proceeds support the educational and cultural programming of Kala Art Institute, a non-profit arts organization located in West Berkeley. For thirty-nine years, Kala's artist residency programs, gallery exhibitions, lectures, classes and innovative youth arts-outreach in public schools has served an ever-expanding community. Kala's international Fellowship and Artist-In-Residence programs continue to play a pivotal role in facilitating the creation of new work by artists in all media.

The exhibition Kala-fornia: State of the Art 3 opens to the public on April 11, with a Preview Party and silent bidding beginning at 6:00 pm. Works in a variety of media by over 100 contemporary California artists will be on view, leading up to the Gala Auction on April 27. At this year's auction we are pleased to be honoring Special Guest Artists Squeak Carnwath and Christopher Brown for their contributions to the Bay Area art world and beyond. In addition to works by these two acclaimed artists, the exhibition and auction will feature a number of works by both emerging and established artists, in a wide range of prices. This year's roster of works includes such luminaries as Val Britton, Chris Brown, Jamie Brunson, Squeak Carnwath, Enrique Chagoya, Randy Colosky, Ellen Heck, Dharma Strasser MacColl, Sean McFarland, Jim Melchert, Richard Misrach, Jennie Ottinger, Francesca Pastine, Emily Payne, Claire Rojas, Richard Shaw, Seiko Tachibana, Peter Voulkos, Noah Wilson, Lena Wolff and many others.

Please join Squeak Carnwath and Christopher Brown, along with Honorary Co-chairs Mercy and Roger Smullen, at the 2013 Kala Art Institute Gala Auction, Kala-fornia: State of the Art 3, Saturday, April 27 from 6:30-10:00 pm. And don't miss the exhibition opening and preview party on Thursday, April 11, from 6-8 pm. Silent bidding starts on April 11 and continues through the Gala on April 27.
