Are you a pianist who has always wanted to play the organ? Have you always wondered how hard it is to play with both your feet and your hands? Would you like to earn a little extra money playing in a church or synagogue? Would you like to play an instrument that makes the room vibrate with its depth and grandeur?
This is your chance to try! We in the Palo Alto/Peninsula Chapter of the AGO will teach you everything you need to know. . . the rest is just practice. You will learn about all the buttons and pedals on the organ. You will get to play the organ in a mini-private lesson, learn about the history and mechanics of the organ, even build a mini-organ, and go home with some easy repertoire which you can practice on your own. We will introduce you to resources and people who can support you in your journey to become a true performer. And, lunch is included!
We will meet and start out on a really big pipe organ with 5,964 pipes and then break into groups to visit and play smaller organs in different styles within walking distance. Join us for a fascinating adventure of playing pipe organs.
This event is only for pianists age 15 and older with at least intermediate keyboard skills.
Free
Presented by Palo Alto/Peninsula Chapter of the American Guild of Organists
