Journey Through the Cosmos with WindSync!

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Hailed by the Houston Chronicle as "revolutionary chamber musicians," WindSync is a fresh and energetic wind quintet internationally recognized for dramatic and engaging interpretations of classical music. Gold Medalist in the National Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and winner of the Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh International Competition, this dynamic ensemble focuses on building a connection with audiences through adventurous programming and charismatic stage presence. These five virtuoso players perform exclusively from memory and specialize in creative concerts that inspire and entertain audiences of all ages.

This evening they will explore Earth, space and our place in the universe through original arrangements and classical and popular pieces inspired by our solar system, including selections from the 1977 Voyager Golden Record Suite: "time capsule" phonograph records that were included aboard both Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977. The records contain sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth and are intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life form, or for future humans, who may find them. Carl Sagan noted that "The spacecraft will be encountered and the record played only if there are advanced space-faring civilizations in interstellar space, but the launching of this 'bottle' into the cosmic 'ocean' says something very hopeful about life on this planet."

Besides Voyager selections, program will include works by J.S. Bach, Offenbach, Buxtehude, Mozart, Chuck Berry, Holst, Stravinsky, Kara LaMoure (a WindSync musician) and others.
