Joshua Nissen King "Fruit of Another" Virtual Celebration

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Voss Gallery presents "Fruit of Another," a solo exhibition of pop surrealist paintings by Joshua Nissen King which depict nature as a kaleidoscopic dreamscape where the harmonies of color turn chaos into serenity.

The exhibition is on view September 9-October 3, 2020. Contact us to schedule an appointment to meet the artist on Saturday, September 12th between 2-6PM; these 30 minute visits are limited to 4 people at a time. A virtual celebration with the artist will be held on Instagram Live (@vossgallery) on Saturday, September 26, 6-7PM. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 12-6PM or by appointment; please wear a face covering and observe social distancing. We are closely following the situation with COVID-19 via the CDC and SF Department of Public Health and will share any updates on our website, newsletter, and social media channels.

A serpentine shape beckons explorers to follow; this uncanny narrator will be our guide, twisting and turning through a saturated world, each abstract painting both a portal and horizon for the next. Movement is paramount, collisions inevitable, yet the sense of play is primal. Seeds, blossoms, flora and flesh drift this world on ethereal currents. Suffused in luscious color, they break all bonds with their beginnings and search out new roles in this strange, wondrous tapestry.

In "Fruit of Another," Nissen King explores nature's panoply of conflict and desire, in which disparate elements, structures and hues portending chaos mysteriously twist, weave and merge into gardens of unexpected wonder and tranquility. Refusing all boundaries and rules of known gravitation, a fertile new ecosystem declares its quest for connection and profound determination to thrive.

"We all bear our own fruit and shine our own light. We are inherently drawn to each others blossoms in a primal way. Just as color knows no bounds, love and lust doesn't either. The purest form of existence is the desire for one another."
-Joshua Nissen King
