Giving a nod to the musical days of old, Juncos plays stripped-down, string-driven songs about lovin', ramblin' and people who have seen better days. Driven by singer-songwriter Joshua Lowe, this is a band that sidesteps production trickery and cuts right to the heart of a tune. The Bluetail Flies feature dual sister singers and upright bass, a cajon-equipped drummer, and the standard trio of banjo, fiddle and guitar. While their sound is definitely rooted in bluegrass, the group is not afraid to incorporate elements of blues, jazz and swing for a unique musical vibe that sets them apart from their contemporaries.
