Jon Kimura Parker and Friends

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us for a spectacular season-opening concert featuring the world-renowned pianist Jon Kimura Parker, celebrated for his charisma, infectious enthusiasm, and dynamic performances. Parker, a veteran of the international concert stage, has graced prestigious venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, London's South Bank, the Sydney Opera House, and the Beijing Concert Hall. We are thrilled to welcome him to our neighborhood stage at Noe Valley Ministry, where he will perform on our magnificent new Steinway Model D Concert Grand piano.

Affectionately known as "Jackie" to his friends, Parker brings a diverse and exhilarating program to this special evening. The concert will open with Beethoven's evocative Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 27 No. 2, famously known as the "Moonlight Sonata." This piece, with its haunting first movement and dynamic finale, is a cornerstone of the piano repertoire.

Following this, Parker will perform Ravel's Jeux d'eau, a sparkling piece that captures the playful and luminous qualities of water. The program continues with selections from Chopin's Preludes, Op. 28, offering a range of emotions from introspective to fiery.

In a delightful twist, the concert will feature a whimsical "Wizard of Oz" Fantasy, arranged by William Hirtz, which reimagines themes from the beloved film in a virtuosic and imaginative piano arrangement.

The concert will conclude with Brahms's Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60, a deeply emotional and complex work that showcases Parker's collaborative spirit alongside the talents of Noe Music's Artistic Directors, violinist Owen Dalby and violist Meena Bhasin, with SF Symphony's Assistant Principal cellist Amos Yang.

Don't miss this extraordinary opportunity to experience Jon Kimura Parker in an afternoon of exceptional music-making at Noe Music.

$45-60, $15 student.
