Jon Bernson: Third Eye Moonwalk

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Jon Bernson: Third Eye Moonwalk
Exhibition Dates: June 17 - July 9th, 2018
Opening Reception: June 16th, 2018 7-10pm
Gallery Hours: By Appointment Only

Jon Bernson is an interdisciplinary artist from San Francisco. He creates site-specific, multi-sensory work that explores the boundaries of storytelling. Bernson was a 2015 artist-in-residence at the de Young Museum and is currently in residence at Playwrights Foundation. The focus of his residency at The Growlery and upcoming installation at Minnesota Street Project is Third Eye Moonwalk, a self-help series that explores the benefits of walking in place when combined with the study of musical waveforms. This path to awakenment may sound like a recipe for disaster, but Way of the Moonwalk has been refining its philosophy for decades. A recent convert, Bernson has dedicated his audio, video, and writing skills to spreading this exciting new message.

Other recent projects include 2018's Logbook, a 54-minute science fiction audiobook by his band Exray's. PDX to OAK is an interactive story, written for six actors and fourteen passengers on an overnight train trip from Portland to Oakland. Bernson’s StoryWorks play Overnighters Is Over re-magines Jesse Moss’ Sundance award-winning film The Overnighters as an immersive multimedia experience. Distant Future Symposium combines video, live music, and conspiracy theories, as part of his ongoing Vessel XII project with Michael Falsetto-Mapp.
