Amateur Music Network and the San Francisco Symphony present a special event for singers.
Audience members are invited join Amateur Music Network's AUDIENCE-CHORUS to sing selected chorales from Bach's St. John Passion as part of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus concert on Saturday, March 30.
Participants will attend a special afternoon workshop and rehearsal with SF Symphony Chorus Director Ragnar Bohlin, and then take seats in the audience to add their voices to Bach's inspired masterwork of choral music.
Congregational singing had been a long-time tradition in Bach's era, even if not specifically for the Passions. That's why, "for our upcoming performance I look upon you as an extension of the chorus onstage," says Maestro Bohlin. "The chorales themselves were most definitely well-known to the people of the time. The effect will be similar to the congregation joining in. I think it will be most effective and beautiful!!"
WORKSHOP: 5 - 6:00 PM
REHEARSAL WITH ORCHESTRA: 6:30
DINNER BREAK: 6:45
CONCERT: 8 PM
Concert ticket sold separately!
Purchase your concert ticket at the Symphony Box Office. We recommend you purchase tickets in the Upper Orchestra section or in First Tier boxes A, B, M, or N in order to be seated with other singers.
