When Sydney, Australia-turned-L.A.-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Joel Taylor was born, the doctor turned to his mom and asked about his name. “Like Billy Joel? Is he going to be a piano player?”
Given his birthright, it’s no surprise the answer to that was in the affirmative. Taylor’s grandfather learned to play boogie-woogie piano from Jerry Lee Lewis, performing with his brothers in Col Joye & the Joy Boys, one of Australia’s very first rock bands in the mid-‘50s, before becoming a noted manager, concert and tour promoter Down Under. Joel learned to play New Orleans stride from his mom – who learned it from her dad -- following in the tradition of Fats Domino, Professor Longhair, Dr. John, Ray Charles, Elton John and his namesake.
“’New York State of Mind’ was the first song I ever learned to play,” says Taylor, whose father was a cabaret lounge jazz singer that fronted swing bands in the mid-‘70s.

His 2019 second full-length, Starlit Afternoon (21 Entertainment/Entertainment One), catalogs and collates an unbelievable two years crisscrossing North America in a converted, sustainable Sprinter Van in between performing live in front of millions as guitarist for multiplatinum superstar Alessia Cara and touring for his own project. Along the way, he wrote, recorded, and self-produced the twelve tracks comprising the album. Throughout the trip, he merges vivid singer-songwriter sensibility bluesy bombast and rock 'n' roll energy, igniting a singular sound.

Bringing a style of 'new age folk,' The Rabbit’s Atom crosses between story-telling folk songs and the occasional something else. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he has performed nationally and internationally, from headlining the Hotel Utah in San Francisco, to busking street corners throughout Europe, to acoustic evenings at rooftop cafes in Hanoi, Vietnam. He released a solo album in 2014, and has since released a string of videos and focused on songwriting. His style has been compared to The Tallest Man on Earth, O.A.R., and Damien Rice. Joined by vocalist Abi Olmstead, The Rabbit's Atom looks forward to each performance as a chance to gather around and be a little more human together.
