The New York City born-and-bred artist comes from a long line of performers (Yiddish opera singers, vaudevillians, orchestral musicians, etc); they grew up in the famed Manhattan Plaza Towers, a building of artist subsidized housing near Times Square that has homed artists like Alicia Keys, Larry David, Samuel L. Jackson, Al Pacino, and Charles Mingus. Joanna also shows an incredible resilience in overcoming the unique challenges of being neurodivergent and nonbinary while pursuing a musical career. Through it all, Joanna is as kind and genuine as they are talented.
