Come join The Cubby Creatures for an elevating night of musical celebration!
.A rock opera 20 years in the making, this new CD is part of a summer-long flurry of events commemorating the Cubby collective’s 20th anniversary.
“Jesus Christ, You’re Crazy” brings together new original music by The Cubby Creatures with a “post-ironic parable” narrated by S.F.-based author K.M. Soehnlein, rounded out by ambient pieces by S.F. musicians That Hideous Strength, Squelchy, Snitch, Jason Gonzales, and Alec Way.
The Cubby Creatures were born in a flat in San Francisco’s Mission District in 1997. The band was a staple of the local subterranean music scene for a decade, during which time it launched a zine (The Cubby Missalette), a web site (cubby.net) and a cable access series (Cubbyvision). In 2011, founding Cubby member Brian Weaver launched Cubby Control Records. The label has since then unleashed a steady stream of psychedelia into SF’s underground bloodstream. In addition to housing the Cubby Creatures' catalog, as well as those of Cubby friends REPTIEL, the label is also home to The Druggles, bl??cmäjik, Gnom i Snegovik, and Cubby Creatures progenitor Coolidge, plus Mr. Weaver's eclectic series of "Embryo Compilations,” which has featured nascent musical projects since 1997.
