Jennifer A. González writes about contemporary art with an emphasis on digital bodies, corporeality, installation art, critical race studies, and democracy. Her book "Subject to Display: Reframing Race in Contemporary Installation Art" (The MIT Press, 2008) examines contemporary artists who use installation art to stage critical assessments of race politics in the U.S. González is professor in the history of art and visual culture at UC Santa Cruz and teaches in the Whitney Independent Study Program.
